Gentamicin is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group active against the most important gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Gentamicin interferes with protein synthesis of bacterial cell. It is poorly absorbed from the G.I.T. and acts locally in the intestines.
Sulphadiazine Sodium and Trimethoprim have a broad spectrum action and dual efficacy against most gram negative and gram-positive bacteria due to synergistic action. The combination potentiate each other and increase the therapeutic effect and acts as a bactericidal.
Sulphadiazine Sodium and Trimethoprim are rapidly absorbed and distributed through the body and excreted via the kidneys.
